Kettu saalistusreissulla – Fox on a hunting trip
Koskikarojen ruokailupaikoilla jään reunamilla näkyy paljon ketunjälkiä ja tässä yksi niiden tekijöistä. Ketut ovat kaikkiruokaisia ja vesien äärellä on lintujen lisäksi mm. jyrsijöitä ja näätiä (lumikko, kärppä, minkki), joita voi yrittää saalistaa. Koskikarat ovat edelleen tallella. :)

At the feeding places of white-throated dippers, you can see a lot of fox tracks on the edges of the ice, and here is one of their makers. Foxes are omnivores, and in addition to birds, there are rodents and mustelids (weasels, stoats, minks) that can be hunted by the waters. The white-throated dippers are still there. :-)

Taking photos of people taking photos of a red fox on the sea ice the other day. I think the fox might well be the same individual I photographed a month ago. It has certainly figured out that fishers might leave some of their catch on the ice.

Sometimes red foxes just walk right by you in Helsinki. I saw this chap three days ago in Seurasaari. A while later it caught a rodent after about 15 minutes of rigorous digging.

Yesterday saw again a fox on my evening long run. The below picture is of another fox that I saw in cologne about a month ago, first uploaded to inaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/326445383). This was one of the few upsides of running in the dark this winter. Now looking forward for the days to get longer again.
