Man, Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines 2 seems to get less interesting the more I read about it. Day One DLC which unlocks the ability to play as either Lasombra and Toreador (big yikes, as these should be base game clans, Paradox is tripping balls).
What's worse, not being able to play the whole game as a Malkavian. I believe the freedom to play the game as any Clan and also experiencing narrative divergences based on your Clan would've been far more enjoyable. An upgrade that I feel was due is being able to define the hairstyle and clothing of the player character. Phyre has a decent design at the very least, as a masc presenting individual...The aesthetic of the character leans heavily in nonbinary territory. If the Chinese Room handles that aspect of Phyre well, I see this as a win!
Still, I long for the freedom to play as a Malkavian and to experience the unforgettable prospective of a Madman; I never believed that The Chinese Room should've been chosen to handle this game, as it was already in development hell. It was a desperate play by Paradox, as they knew something had to be done to salvage it as fans were frothing at the mouth for another Bloodlines game. The backlash will likely come either way now.
