Tutto […]

Using The New Bridges of FreeBSD 15

FreeBSD 15 comes with a new bridging implementation which has native support for VLANs. They have also soft-deprecated the ability to have any layer 3 addresses on member interfaces which makes it behave like a real hardware switch. The net.link.bridge.member_ifaddrs sysctl controls this behavior and it will …

Yaiy, they fixed our new fiber internet! It took the tech support a while to figure out what was wrong, but sounded like they had the VLAN config on our active termination via/on a #Genexis #Fibertwist wrong.
So not a #VLAN misconfig on their premise but on ours, but still on their device.
And it was interesting to see that they seem quite a bit more "open" on the fiber on the customer side if one chooses an active termination.
Well, now the Fritz!Box 7690 delivers 300mbit/s (to start with).
Also, the ISPs #Schnittstellenbeschreibung does not mention any #VLAN s. So I'm quite certain that they messed up their VLAN config. :D
Alternatively, does anyone know if it's possible to set a #VLAN on the WAN port of an #AVM #Fritzbox? FRITZ!Box 7690 in particular. And other than that it's plain ethernet with DHCP on the WAN port.
So, the new fiber internet was supposed to be enabled last week. But the Fritz!box says: WAN connected, but no internet.
I then had a look with @wireshark: I'm seeing a lot of #ARP from ~2.5k fritz boxes, on #VLAN s 850 and 900. If I set these VLANs on my laptop I do get internet access. This does not look right to me.
As no support was available on Friday at 5pm anymore I left a message with my findings on our ISP's fault hotline, but haven't heard back yet.
