We enjoyed a day of racing, complete with activities for the whole family like face painting, petting farm animals and soft play! Made a fun change in activities and would go again! Market Rasen Racecourse is a National Hunt racecourse in the town of Market Rasen, in Lincolnshire, England. It is owned and operated by Jockey Club Racecourses - racing initially began at Market Rasen in the early 1800s, however found its current home in 1924, its first race meeting coming in April of that year. This course stages over 20 jump racing fixtures each year - the beautiful track is best known as a premier summer jumping racecourse. The oval shaped course is 1 mile 2 furlongs in distance. The ground is undulating and bends are sharp. There are nine fairly easy jumps, two of these are open ditches and there is one water jump in front of the stands! The family-friendly atmosphere, its stunning countryside views and exciting races make Market Rasen a great day out for everyone. @market_rasen_racecourse host fun functions like Women's Day, Family Day, Race Days, Live Music and much much more! They also do venue hire and have a caravan/touring site! Market Rasen Racecourse Caravan Park is located at the heart of the historic racecourse. The Caravan Park offers the opportunity to stay onsite and to enjoy fantastic horse racing, and the opportunity of other events on your doorstep, as well as explore the picturesque countryside surrounding the Lincolnshire Wolds. Market Rasen is a small, bustling, Market town situated on the River Rase and located on the Western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Markets are regularly held in the town offering ample opportunity to buy local produce and gifts. The town is also serviced by two supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, pharmacies, and much more. The Cathedral is first and foremost a place of worship and pilgrimage.  The daily offering of prayer and praise, enriched by wonderful music, beats at the heart of the Cathedralโ€™s life.  Our services are open to all, and our welcome extends to people of all faiths and none. We are also a popular attraction for visitors to the city, and host a range of events throughout the year. Our Father Willis organ is one of the finest organs in the world. It us used every day for our services as well as special events. To ensure it always sounds its best it is tuned regularly; usually on a Wednesday in the middle of the month. If you visit us on organ tuning day, expect to hear long, continuous notes played as each note is checked and tuned. Itโ€™s not the most beautiful sound youโ€™ll hear from the organ, but it is necessary. To make sure every member of the family has fun, youโ€™ll find exciting activities and information around every corner as you explore the Cathedral. At the welcome desk you can pick up a themed backpack. For younger children, there is an activity trolley with books, dressing-up, puppets and much more. We aim to provide a space which is welcoming to all and are committed to inclusive practices through staff training and physical adaptations where possible." I had a look at the events they have on and they range from the stained glass tour, commemoration of Holocaust memorial day, Historic Graffiti tours, Guided roof tours, an evening of Radiohead, Queen by candlelight and much more! There's also educational tours for schools, family fun or just people just wanting to visit. ๐Ÿ“Œ ๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ, ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ฏ ๐˜“๐˜•2 1๐˜—๐˜Ÿ"

You never know what wildlife you will stumble across when out walking the countryside. A roe deer, Swanpool, Lincoln UK, unfortunately now known as the Western Growth Corridor. (It's such a shame that such a rich wildlife habitat is being replaced with housing).

This weekend's photo just has to be last nights/this early mornings Aurora Borealis. Was out until 3 am capturing the most amazing display i have ever seen. This is one of my many favourites

For this weekend's photo I thought I would go for quite an overlooked animal when it comes to photography, the stoat. I was photographing birds in a hedgerow when I noticed a movement to my side, turning slowly I found this little one watching me.

This year has been an unusual winter. A lot warmer than normal with very few frosty/snowy days. Instead, we have had a lot of storms. What those storms do bring is some dramatic skies. And Lincolnshire is known as a big sky county.

A bit late with this weekend's photo. I spend Saturday evening watching one of nature's wonders... A starling murmuration.

Happy Winter Solstice to all. A day to rest and reflect. I thought this photo of a full moon rising over the lake with swans on a winter afternoon was an appropriate photo for the shortest day. (Best viewed on a large screen.)
