DAVID BOWIE
ChangesTwoBowie
1981 Canada pressing
A collection of post-1976 singles, plus five songs from earlier that did NOT appear on the initial volume of CHANGESBOWIE.
Once Bowie left RCA, his relations with them deteriorated badly. RCA still owned distribution rights to his 1969–1980 catalog for a period, but Bowie reportedly disliked RCA’s budget reissues and marketing decisions. He felt they were exploiting the catalog without proper care or consultation.
RCA then deleted most of Bowie’s catalog from print in the U.S. and U.K. around 1981–1983. This was unusual given how important and commercially viable those albums were, & for several years, his work, including THIS, was hard to come by.
It was all due to catalog management & control during a major industry transition from vinyl to CD.
Thank god for Ryko, who saved his catalog for everybody, & reissued them with care.
