No, they did not. They played new(ish) instruments. They did not play 60 or 70 year old Strats. The oldest Strats available in 1969 was 15 years old.
Electronics do age, you know. If you want similar equipment as your 1960s idols, buy a new guitar or a used one from the last 10 years.

#Guitar a day on Christmas Day. 1920s ukelin. Sort of a cross between a violin and auto harp. The strings are numbered and it came with a book that allowed you to play tunes by following the numbers. Mine is badly cracked so can’t be tuned but I’ll post a clip of someone playing one.
