I need to take an updated photo of my bookshelf with my Nancy Drew collection, but until then, here's one of my top favorite finds! On the front endpages, the date June 2nd is my birthday (definitely not the year 1942 lmaoo) and then the name Jan, with the date August 18th- that feels special to me bc my grandma's (who passed away unfortunately) name was Jan and her birthday was August 16th. When I saw the listing for this book, I knew it was meant to be 🩵

Sarah SammisFive stars: Little Boy with a Big Horn by Jack Bechdolt and Aurelius Battaglia (Illustrator) (1953) is one of those foundational books of my childhood. It's a story that has stuck with me even though I am not particularly musically inclined. For me, it was how Bechdolt's story was interpreted visually by Aurelius Battaglia and how I misread / misremembered one key piece.
