Found myself updating vim powerline & cleaning up some crufty, ancient configs.
This managed to break powerline working inside of Python venvs.
Adding the following line to my `/etc/vim/vimrc` configuration got powerline working properly again:

@here_for_code Do whatever is most efficient for you. I was coding long before #IDEs were a thing, and prefer to build my own #toolchains based on the #Unix philosophy of small, dedicated utilities.
These days, IDEs needn't be crutches. They can be, but it's really more about what fits your brain, what you enjoy using, and what you find most effective. Focus on that!
#Vi is universal but has a steep learning curve. It would suck if I didn't also use a ton of #vimplugins by @tpope & others.
I created a Fork of the #vim #plugin 'vim-surround'. The change I introduce allows disabling the added spaces in the original functionality.
