Saw this in a repo somebody spun up containing source code of Apple's new web-based App Store.
Maybe they're being snarky, but you shouldn't take this advice to heart! Always ship sourcemaps in production! Always!

That thing where it finally dawns on you how to fix a bunch of almost imperceptible things that have been bugging you about your own site, all at once. https://www.ryanpatrickrandall.com/reading/
If you ever tried to use one of the "page source" links & it didn't work… it should now!
Plus, my reading & notes pages have all been refined.
That said, if you ever see anything clearly borked or just confusing, I'd appreciate hearing about it!
My dream scenario for my site is for it to help be part of a community, not for it to serve as a one-way transmitter.

Rem when you used to just "view source" and figure it out?
For me at least. That's how I #learn. I don't need all of the "blog author's commentary" in between.
Three Cool Cheatsheets.
The sounds like the title to a children's book that's been far too overpopularized for some inexplicable reasons, like barney.
Seriously though:

https://htmlcheatsheet.com/css/

A person could literally start and end there, and go off on the journey well equipped.

[Articles] The #ViewSource Affordance
The creator of HTMX, Carson Gross, with another very thoughtful post on the current state of the web, lamenting the loss of Right-Click-View-Source As Culture. #djangonews
In this essay, Carson Gross explores the significance of the #ViewSource affordance in preserving the open, collaborative culture of the early web. He examines the impact of digital and technical enclosure on this culture, highlights the importance of developer decisions in maintaining openness, and advocates for prioritizing #ViewSource-friendly practices in modern web development.

"something deeply important about the early web has been lost, almost certainly unintentionally, along the way: the ability to view the source of the page, make sense of what it is doing and, most importantly, to learn from it."
This isn't just wistful nostalgia. Technologies like htmx (and web components) democratize learning and building. That matters (or should) to everyone.

Not for nothing, Hypercard presaged the web's critical "#ViewSource" affordance, which allowed people to copy, modify, customize and improve on the things that they found delightful or useful; this affordance was later adapted by other human-centered projects like #Scratch, and is a powerful tonic against #enshittification.

I don't think "people" ever had the Internet I remember.
Those who did are a very small group in relative terms, although in absolute terms their numbers have monotonically grown (I think).
But the ideal of Internet for the vast majority of people was never realized. Most first had no access outside a few institutions, then early versions of corporate gardens I loathed then and loathe now, whose owners were moved to broaden and now moved to narrow what they'll permit people to do.
