Everything in life has pros and cons: Kubernetes in the home lab makes a lot of things more complicated, but a lot of other things less complicated. Replacing Telegraf + InfluxDB with Node Exporter and sending directly to Victoria Metrics gives me much more visibility on the Raspberry Pis. On top of that, using SNMP Exporter to collect data from Synology allows me to completely get rid of containers running inside an appliance. Silver linings.

Just migrated my home air quality monitoring system from MariaDB / ClickHouse to #Prometheus (actually #VictoriaMetrics).

Anomaly detection isn't just for metrics.

#VictoriaMetrics Anomaly Detection supports additional input data sources through #VictoriaLogs reader, allowing you to monitor #log-derived and traces-derived metrics for anomalies.
This expands the versatility, enabling it to handle a wider range of data sources beyond #timeseries metrics from VictoriaMetrics or #Prometheus, including VictoriaLogs and #VictoriaTraces.

Her talk, โ€œGreener #Observability: A Journey Toward Sustainable Monitoring Through Open Source Innovationโ€, explores how #sustainability in observability goes far beyond financial cost savings. Itโ€™s about reducing data bloat, choosing efficient tools, and cutting down on energy consumption across systems.

See you there!

Telemetry Talks episode 3 is here ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ
In this episode, @dianatodea joins Zhu Jiekun and Alexander Marshalov to break down OpenTelemetry observability signals: #metrics, #logs, and #traces, and how #VictoriaMetrics handles each with high performance, cost efficiency, and seamless integration.

Now that #VictoriaMetrics and #Grafana have be moved to some #OpenBSD VPS  that is faily independant from my other playgrounds bases, the #ODROID is monitored using #collectd and is ready for more weirdo software testings.

But this will wait until tomorrow! Gโ€™nite folks!

Writing code is no longer confined to the good old IDE.

Weโ€™re entering an era where autonomous #AI agents are taking the lead.
A great example is #openai where internal development has reportedly reached 0 lines of manually written code by adding the #VictoriaMetrics #Observability Stack to their harness. Their #engineering blog on #Codex outlines what an agent-first workflow actually looks like in practice.
