OK, so that was pretty damn epic. Heavy, psychedelic, weird, industrial and rockin' like a bag of bastards. And all the time you're thinking "that's John Cale from The Velvet Underground!"
Highlights, for me, were a strange, dark deconstruction of Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel and a new track ("Company Commander") that blew the roof off the place.
Also it was John Fucking Cale from The Velvet Underground! That was a bit of a highlight too.

Patti Smith was pure joy tonight. With such an incredible back catalogue, there will always be songs I'm sad she didn't play (my favourite song of hers is probably Birdland, which didn't make the set list), but everything she did play was perfect... Redondo Beach and Ghost Dance being particular stand-outs for me. But it was all wonderful.
