G V Prakash begins composing songs for director Vetrimaran’s ‘Vaadi Vaasal’
Chennai, Mar 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Music director G V Prakash, who is scoring the music for director Vetrimaran’s eagerly awaited action entertainer ‘Vaadi Vaasal’, featuring Suriya in the lead, has now disclosed that he has begun work on composing songs for the film.
Taking to his X timeline, G V Prakash wrote, “#Vaadivaasal song composing has started. @theVcreations @Suriya_offl”
G V Prakash also posted a picture of himself with Vetrimaran at the composing studio.
Quoting the music director’s quote, the producer of the film, Kalaipuli S Thanu put out a tweet that read, “Agilame Aarathikka Inithe Aarambam. #VaadiVaasal (A sweet start as the world cheers)@Suriya_offl #VetriMaaran @gvprakash”
It was in January this year that producer Thanu announced that shooting for director Vetrimaran’s ‘Vaadi Vaasal’ would begin soon.
Thanu’s announcement came on the festival day of Maatu Pongal, an auspicious day when bulls are celebrated.
Thanu posted a picture of himself with director Vetrimaran and Suriya and wrote in Tamil, “Agilam Aarathika Vaadi Vaasal Thirakirathu’ (With the world cheering, the Vaadi Vaasal opens). Vaadi Vaasal refers to the narrow passage way, resembling a gateway, through which bulls participating in the popular sport of ‘Jallikattu’ are let into the arena. Interestingly, Jallikattu happens on Maatu Pongal day as part of Pongal celebrations.
The film has triggered huge interest in fans for two reasons. The first is that Vetrimaran will be working with Suriya.
The other reason why the film is eagerly awaited is because it is based on the novel 'Vaadivaasal', written by well known Tamil writer Ci. Su. Chellappa. 'Vaadivaasal' was a story based on the bull-taming sport of Jallikattu.
Rumours doing the rounds in the industry suggest that the film is to be made as a three-part entity. However, there has been no official confirmation from the film unit in this regard.

Chennai, Feb 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Director Varsha Bharath’s upcoming Tamil film ‘Bad Girl’, the teaser of which stirred up a hornet’s nest with one section of the film fraternity calling the film “bold and refreshing” and another section taking offence to the manner in which a Brahmin girl had been portrayed in it, has now won the NETPAC Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR) 2025.
The NETPAC award is presented on an annual basis to a feature film from the Asia and Pacific region. The film is chosen by a jury from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema.
NETPAC’s mission, the festival organisers claimed, was to highlight new talents. The film selected for this award must be from one of 71 eligible countries in Asia or the Pacific Nations and Islands to be considered.
It may be recalled that the teaser of the film, which was released a few days ago, triggered a controversy.
Director Pa Ranjith tweeted on his X timeline, praising the film. He wrote, “Happened to watch #BadGirl, and it’s truly a bold and refreshing film! Director #VetriMaaran deserves immense credit for backing such a daring story. The film powerfully portrays women’s struggles and society’s expectations through a unique new wave cinema style. Congratulations #varsha. Anjali Sivaraman delivers an amazing performance—don’t miss this one!”
However, soon after Pa Ranjith put out this tweet, director Mohan G Kshatriyan responded to it. Quoting Pa Ranjith’s tweet, he wrote, “Portraying a Brahmin girl(‘s) personal life is always a bold and refreshing film for this clan. What more can be expected from Vetrimaran, Anurag Kasyap & Co.. Bashing Brahmin father and mother is old and not trendy. Try with your own caste girls and showcase it to your own family first.”
This soon snowballed into a major controversy, with one section criticising the teaser and the film and another section supporting it.
The film, which has been directed by Varsha Bharath, features Anjali Sivaraman, Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam and Sashank Bommireddipalli among others.
Cinematography for the film is by Preetha Jayaraman (ISC), Jagadeesh Ravi, Prince Anderson, music is by Amit Trivedi and editing for the film is by Radha Sridhar.
The film, which has been produced by ace director Vetrimaran, is presented by Vetrimaran in association with Anurag Kashyap.

Chennai, Jan 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) The teaser of director Varsha Bharath’s upcoming Tamil film ‘Bad Girl’, which was released recently, has stirred up a hornet’s nest with one section of the film fraternity calling the film “bold and refreshing” and another section taking offence to the manner in which a Brahmin girl has been portrayed in the film’s teaser.

Meanwhile, the director of the film, Varsha Bharath, during her speech at the teaser launch of the film, said, her movie was just “the start of a conversation” and that it was not a self-help book.
The director said, “I am not telling anybody how to lead their lives. This character is not a hero. She is just a really flawed person. She has mental health issues. She is just trying to survive. Generally itself, I don’t think filmmakers are people who can tell you how to live.”
Claiming that she had seen male characters that were a “thousand times more irredeemable and flawed” than the protagonist’s character in her film being hero worshipped, the director said, “This character need not be hero-worshipped but it can be accepted. I am not endorsing that women should drink in this film. I am just telling the story of a girl in this film. Women don’t have to be purists. They only need to be human.”
