I am heartbroken to share that Marmalade has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Despite our best efforts, his suffering was too great. He passed peacefully two days ago with Murphy—per Marmalade, the objectively best person in the world—right by his side. I took a bit to post back because I wanted to focus on Murph's well-being, and happily, with the help of Howl and Rune (Marmalade's brothers), they're beginning to heal—albeit slowly.

We have updated the fundraiser. We are no longer raising money for surgery, but we are keeping the fund open to cover the emergency vet bills and his cremation costs.

Murphy saved me when I had nowhere to go. Please help me ensure they don't have to carry a financial debt while they carry this grief.

original post: took my bean to the vet today for persistent bad breath. it was worse than i thought, she needs a tooth extraction and cleaning because she has severe periodontal disease. the procedure is going to cost me between $1.2k and $1.9k depending on how many teeth can be kept vs pulled. it's scheduled for this coming monday and my choices are to either max out my one credit card, open a new one, or spend almost all of my savings.

They said that she sits up and stands on her own, but that we'll need to make sure she gets escorted to potty times so she won't fall over. She also has puppy pt videos they're going to show me! But the most exciting part is this:

Kiri has shown marked improvement from this morning during her potty walk, and her anticipatory pain has decreased a lot. She only yipped once when approached this evening. She's still being finger fed but has a good appetite as long as the vet tech attending is commited. 😂💕
