Vespa crabro Linnaeus, 1758 ♀

Specimen was captured in July 2023 in the Ardennes region, France. Sad we had to kill it but having a hornet nest right next to the house was just too meh :(

Welche #Wespe ist das? Etwas größer als die Arbeiterin einer Gemeinen Wespe ist sie. Sie sonnte sich gestern auf unserem zünslerzerfressenem Buchsbaum, bis ihr meine Fotografiererei zu doof wurde und sie davonflog. Gemeine Wespe? Für eine Hornisse schien sie zu klein.
