i painted this portrait of the musican TOM LIWA after a photograph of his friend saskia. she thought of the painting "girl with a pearl earing” by johannes vermeer from 1665. this vermeer painting is part of the collection of the Mauritshuis in the hague in the Netherlands.
lately there was an open call to send cover versions of this painting. we took part and TOM LIWA’s portrait got selected to be shown at mauritshuis. it will be on display from 10th of april to the 16th. it is shown in the museum exactly on that place where usually the original vermeer painting is located in a digital frame.
