I woke up to find a surprise Alana portrait waiting for me! It's so lovely that people want to draw my little Rook. Loving the anime vibes of this too.

Dragon Age Veilguard review: Where the heck was the soundtrack???

Wandering around in a zone... silence. Emotional scene...some barely-audible elevator music. Climax of the entire game... an anemic remix of the Solas theme. The missing soundtrack just... viciously undercuts the emotional core of the game, leaving all their important story beats to fizzle out without impact.

Otherwise the game was decent: nothing that's worth really posting about. But the "soundtrack" 😖.

Highly recommend "Tevinter Nights" short story collection of Dragon Age characters. Some old friends, like Sutherland and his crew from Inquisition, but also Veilguard peeps like Strife, Antoine, and Evka. Read it after my first full playthrough of Veilguard and it was a nice visit with old friends. #DragonAge #Books #RPG #VeilGuard #Inquisition
"Of course, Dragon Age is full of fighting and magic and romance, but the real draw, at least for me, is the test that the games put to the player, a test with no easy questions and no right answers. And the brilliance of Dragon Age’s verisimilitude is that the questions themselves may be wrong, based on rewritten histories, unreliable narrators, cultural misunderstandings, and political lies. Just like in real life." https://culturalgutter.com/2025/05/22/this-game-kills-fascists/ #games #Veilguard #DragonAge

I finished #dragonage #veilguard :) Honestly, that was a hella good ending. I mean, it smelled a bit mass effect-y with all the ooh look how you helped out all these companions and so now they'll fight better and they won't come to a tragic end... but in a good way.

I really did like how it let me double-cross Solas by passing him the fake dagger rather than the real one. Felt like that glorious bit in Sunless Skies where I got to push Old Tom into his own well : grins :

What next?

New instance means I can repost some of my earlier writing!

So, here's a gentle little scene, set some years before Veilguard, with my then-nameless Rook.

It's an excellent piece from Gutter Editor Emeritus Angela Englert on Dragon Age, especially Dragon Age: Veilguard, and how no one is free until everyone is free. https://culturalgutter.com/2025/05/22/this-game-kills-fascists/ #DragonAge #Veilguard #videogames

Finished reading Last Flight by Liane Merciel, thanks @dreadfulsanity for the recommendation. If you've played #Veilguard and want to know more about the griffons then it's an essential read, but not always a comfortable one.

From longing glances to an unexpected kiss...

The NeveRook romance is so good. There's angst, tenderness, and two broken souls healing each other.

I really need to write more fanfic about this.

OK, what's my first proper post on here going to be? How about some writing?

Here's a little pre-game prologue for my Veilguard OC, Alana de Riva.
