IHOP: Please Offer Plant-Based Pancakes!
It's 2025โฆ why doesnโt IHOP have vegan-friendly pancakes yet? Even Dennyโs recently announced its new Plant-Based Pancake Slam! Itโs time for the International House of Pancakes to get on board with the unstoppable demand for compassionately-made menu options. Sign now to dare IHOP to join Dennyโs in offering plant-based pancakes that everyone can enjoy! IHOP is owned by Dine Brands Global, Inc., and has over 1,800 locations around the world. IHOP serves 400 million pancakes annually, and all of the restaurant chain's currently offered pancakes contain cowโs milk and/or eggs, and may be served with butter. Vegan-friendly pancakes can be prepared with simple recipe adjustments, including plant-based milks, butter, and egg replacements. Dairy cows are often confined to filthy facilities where they are repeatedly impregnated against their will. Their babies are taken from them immediately or soon after birth, and the milk intended for their calves is stolen for human consumption. Once they can no longer produce enough milk to be profitable for farmers, mother cows are often slaughtered for meat. Female calves often suffer the same fate as their mothers on dairy farms. Some male cows are confined in cramped hutches that restrict their movement and are killed for veal at just a few weeks old. Others are immediately killed since they cannot produce milk or are raised and slaughtered for beef. The short lives of chickens exploited in the egg industry are equally cruel. Hens are confined to tiny cages where they lay eggs until they are no longer profitable at around two years of age. They are then slaughtered for meat. While most eggs in these operations are collected and sold for human consumption, some are incubated to produce more egg-laying hens. Female chicks born into the egg industry are used for egg production like their mothers, while male chicks may be ground up alive shortly after hatching since they cannot produce eggs. Using plant-based ingredients eliminates the suffering and killing of vulnerable animals who are farmed for food. IHOP has a tremendous opportunity to make plant-based foods more accessible to consumers. Please urge John Peyton, CEO of Dine Brands Global, Inc., to offer vegan-friendly pancakes at all IHOP locations. 1.
