Milos completely exceeded my expectations. I knew it was a beautiful volcanic island with surreal landscapes and beaches β€” like the iconic white rock formations of Sarakiniko β€” but what truly surprised me, in the best way, was its authenticity.

Beyond the stunning views, Milos still feels real: local towns where people go to work, kids play in parks, and life flows naturally.

At least in May, the balance between locals and tourists felt just right β€” especially compared to places like Santorini.

It reminded me how important it is to travel consciously β€” to respect the rhythm of local life, support small businesses, and preserve the beauty and integrity of the places we visit. 🌿

Have you been to Milos or is it on your list? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. The food in the last photo is from Hanabi, a seaside sushi bar in the town of Apollonia. It’s a lovely spot β€” and they have a separate vegan menu! 🌱
