Ryan takes a trip to see Rich in TX! We get into a lot of adventures and a celebration.
Yesterday I had the chance to play with the "1802 membership card" my friend bought back at #VCFMW
You can put a small program in ROM (the "monitor") that does serial I/O, which we did; but we didn't find documentation on how to use the monitor's serial routines in our own programs.
We pieced it together from some internet sources, plus trial and error. I put up the details here: https://codeberg.org/jepler/hello_1802_membership
It's not much; it just prints a message then echoes characters back. but it's a starting point for writing actual software.
The 2nd best source for info that I found was https://github.com/dmalenic/RCA1802-playground/

@tschak I'm your target (my platforms are TRS-80 CoCo II and DOS) and I've seen #FujiNet at many #VCFMW shows, which I travel to attend. Maybe it would help to know why I haven't adopted it?
First, I didn't know it supposed DOS and CoCo. Actually, I still don't. Neither are listed at https://fujinet.online/purchase/ . The CoCo link at https://fujinet.online/wiki/?p=Toplevel-Hardware is broken. I found https://fujinet.online/tandy-color-computer/ but it requires me to build a bunch of stuff myself, which I don't have time for right now. 1/
