Currently I am waiting for a SCSI terminator and an AUI transceiver to arrive. The transceiver is necessary to connect the machine to a local lan. Luckily I have found a transceiver that translates to RJ45. Most others seem to have BNC connectors.
I'm not sure yet what to do with the 3W3 graphics connector. It seems to be impossible to get a cable. Perhaps I will have to make my own cable, if possible. First, I'm gonna try to connect a terminal to use this machine.
Another piece from the #DEC lot restored today: a BA353 #StorageWorks desktop expansion unit. Left and middle slot only had blanks, now they have proper trays. The left one has a RZ26 installed, the middle one is still empty. Also had to re-cap the RRD42 CD-ROM drive due to heavy leakage.
This should help me getting any #VAXstation up and running quite fast, as I can install a ready-to-go version of VMS on the hard disk in the left bay and/or boot from install media if the VAXstation itself has no CD-ROM drive. 🙂

Wurde komplett zerlegt und gereinigt, RIFA aus dem Netzteil entfernt, Lüfter neu geölt (müssen sich noch einlaufen, sind noch laut), Tantal auf der 12V-Schiene erneuert.

Gehäuse hat Gilb und altersbedingt und durch Lagerung ein paar Macken.
Die VLC hat die maximal möglichen 24 MB RAM und eine 120 MB Festplatte sowie die 1 MB Farbgrafik-Karte. Kein OS installiert, darum muss sich der Käufer kümmern. 😉

Und Nummer 2 bereit für einen Test. Wenn die (auch) läuft, kann ich endlich die anderen verkaufen. Muss ja sicherstellen, dass ich selbst eine lauffähige behalte. 😅
Cheapest way to build a 3W3-to-VGA adapter: just use the power connector from an old Nokia phone charger. 🥳
And if color is not important for you, you only need to connect the green channel.
Geschafft, die erste #digital #VAXstation 4000 VLC ist instand gesetzt. 🙂
Finaler Test muss noch warten, bis ich ein 3W3-nach-VGA-Kabel habe, aber bis dahin muss ich eh noch zwei weitere von den Dingern fertig machen...
Gerade bei einer #VAXstation 4000 VLC den RIFA aus dem Netzteil entfernt, damit der nicht hochgeht. Und was passiert beim ersten Einschalt-Test? Natürlich geht stattdessen ein Tantal auf dem Mainboard hoch. 😆
Zum Glück SMD, da muss ich das Board nicht extra nochmal ausbauen.
