Happy lunar new year! This season has a special significance in my household.

Per the Hindu lunar calendar, today is Vasant Panchami: the fifth day of waxing in the lunar month of Magha. This means it is dedicated to Saraswati, the patron goddess of learning, music, art, literature, and science.

So this day is particularly important and meaningful to children. It is the one Hindu holiday we always celebrate at home, ever since my kid was born.
