Billiowing rain stopped but intermittently returns, wind fairly strong and gusty but not frighteningly so. South westerly. Currently 981 hPa after dropping to 979 an hour or two ago. Australian Magpie on the waste ground. A few cyclists and dog walkers on the path. A bright patch in the clouds which are now heading smartly east.
A bit more wind now, and gusty, but not extreme, and maybe changing diection to southerly/ south westerly? Drizzle changed to light rain. 979 hPa.
I prefer sunny days but Aotearoa is somehow more authentic in a little rain.
Forecast path of the storm has shifted eastwards a little. Landfall now most likely in western Bay of Plenty. Sorry, can't find a better link for this map.
Currently only small gusts of wind, roughly south easterly, like eddies, and steady drizzle. 981* hPa though.
*Met service surface pressure charts say Auckland should be about 992-993 hPa but my anneroid barometer says 981 and my electronic one says 979. Maybe because i'm on the leeward side of the building?
