Florida's surgeon general didn't look at the numbers before announcing his decision to ending vaccine mandates in his state. Scientists have. If childhood vaccinations in the U.S. drop by half, a Stanford study predicted 51.2 million cases of measles, 9,9 million cases of rubella, 4.3 million cases of polio and 200 cases of diphtheria over 25 years, all of which would lead to millions of hospitalizations, thousands of cases of paralysis and brain damage, and 159,200 vaccine-preventable deaths. Florida’s surgeon general said he didn’t calculate the costs of ending vaccine mandates in the state. But scientists have.

Florida’s surgeon general said Sunday that he had not weighed the cost – in terms of infections, hospitalizations or deaths – of ending vaccine mandates in the state. But scientists who have done those calculations say those costs may be high.

Republican officials in Florida want to eliminate all vaccine mandates for schools, but it's not that simple. Legislative action will be needed to nix requirements for shots like polio and measles and if the move succeeds, it will likely lead to worse disease outbreaks and a teacher shortage. Request Rejected

Right! "Make America Healthy Again" by encouraging parents NOT to vaccinate their kids and not requiring any vaccines.

Welcome back, smallpox, polio, measles, & diptheria! We're heading back to the Dark Ages.

Florida state Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo said current requirements in schools and elsewhere are an “immoral” intrusion on people’s rights bordering on “slavery,” and hampers parents’ ability to make health decisions for their children. Because parents are all trained immunologists, right?!

Florida's political leaders are insane!!

Florida plans to eliminate all childhood vaccine mandates

Florida plans to become the first state to eliminate vaccine mandates that have been a cornerstone of public health policy for decades in keeping schoolchildren and citizens safe from infectious diseases. State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo describes current vaccine requirements as an immoral intrusion on rights. He argues that parents should make health decisions for their children. Vaccines have been proven over decades of use to be safe and the most effective way to stop the spread of communicable diseases, especially among schoolchildren. Dr. Rana Alissa from the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics warns that removing vaccines increases risks for students and staff.

Vaccinations are injected with politics as measles spreads in West Texas

The politics of ending vaccine requirements in Texas is in conflict with the reality of a raging measles outbreak in West Texas. Texans for Vaccine Choice, a powerful political action committee, has been leading the fight to weaken vaccination requirements.

So many excellent thoughts in this piece. “But let’s not forget that, despite the whinging of a small but loud minority, the #COVID19 #VaccineMandate was always sound policy.

The safety of patients should always take precedent over the whims of workers, and B.C. did a much better job of protecting its vulnerable citizens than Ontario or Quebec, which abandoned their provincial mandates shamefully early.” https://med-mastodon.com/@picardonhealth/112877027795801323

Headline should be: End of B.C.'s #VaccineMandate will have no impact on staffing shortages - because it’s not the cause. https://www.vancouverislandfreedaily.com/news/unclear-how-end-of-bcs-vaccine-mandate-could-impact-staffing-shortages-7465311

“According to figures from the provincial government, they represented less than 1.2 per cent of provincial #HealthWorkers. Interior Health led the provincial health authorities with 958, followed by Fraser Health with 503 and Island Health with 484. About 30 were full-time workers, the rest mainly casual ones”

It means 2,692 health-care workers could return to work after having lost jobs for refusing the vaccine
