As others have noted, a "U.S." war with Venezuela appears increasingly likely. The motivation is twofold: Venezuela's close ties with "U.S." adversaries, and the strategic need to secure its oil reserves. In a conflict with Iran, access to Venezuelan oil would be essential to offset the inevitable closure of the West Asian supply.
