Had a great morning sawing sweet gum in a friend’s yard. All the wonderful things I’ve heard about the species is true. I’m so happy I took this opportunity. I only sawed the first of several logs she’s been holding for me. I have 3 slabs from the first log with the most beautiful interplay between sapwood and heartwood. Each is about 8-10/4 each and about 84” long. They should easily plane to 8/4, I think. Let me know what you think. #woodworking #woodworker #chainsawmill #urbanlumber

I met this cherry slab as a tree in a friend’s yard in early 2020. I have an idea for something really unique for another friend and this slab looks just about perfect. While I’m editing some of my older videos together into something more coherent, I hope to turn this slab into a unique kitchen item.
