I hate that Upwork decided it's cool to delete my saved Connects, so now I have to buy Connects to apply for jobs when I am currently looking for jobs to have, you know, money.
The site is basically useless for me right now, even with my work history and ratings.

China is targeting personnel linked to the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance — Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the U.K and the U.S. — on job websites to get access to classified or sensitive information, the group said in a bulletin. The Five Eyes powers said in a bulletin Wednesday that an “aggressive” online recruitment strategy where spies for Chinese military intelligence pose as workers acting on behalf of private businesses or think tanks. They then reportedly advertise for bogus jobs such as foreign policy or defense analysts, before pressuring candidates to provide “nonpublic” information. Britain’s security minister, Dan Jarvis, urged anyone who could be a potential target for China’s intelligence services, to be on guard for “signs of online targeting.”

With a warning that they are blanket inviting so many that if you don’t hear anything (after adding your details and a sample review to their Google sheet), it’s because they don’t have the capacity to respond to everyone.
I guess it’s a little more suited than repeatedly asking to harvest my and friends’ voices as *native German speakers* simulating conversations to train a German audio AI (for US$15, fixed price).
*sigh*
