Leek harvest and meal preparation
How to start leek seeds from saved seed.
I use mature leeks in soups and stir fries and any recipe which calls for onion. Leaks have a mild onion flavor and are hardy to frost.
The germination process starts the same as onions. Each tiny black seed will become a large leek if it survives.
Give it a try, all you need is a sunny south facing window and some heat (place on top boiler, refrigerator, or heat pad until seedlings emerge)

Proper rain water management during the wet season helps fortify the land against summer drought. We can hold water in barrels but more importantly we can hold water in the landscape!
For this to work we need to slow water, spread water, and sink water.
Pair that with deep mulches and a lot of biomass and you'll have a system which rarely needs irragation.
