I’m getting extremely close to being able to use a Linux HTPC to replace my AppleTV. I just need a good remote that works with Steam Big Picture mode and I think I’d be happy enough with it. I tried the flirc Skip 1s with flirc usb and it’s so close. I can control my TV, soundbar, Jellyfin, and YouTube with it but I can’t really control Steam meaning I can’t switch apps. Not sure what to try next.

I only had a betty I acquired post-shutdown of the service but without the acoompaining #modem...

And yes, the #betty #remote got hacked a lot because once https://pollin.de sold them at clearance, people used it like a #PiPico and even outside it's original #Spyware use, it's a nifty #UniversalRemote anyway...

Getting a single universal remote to replace all the remotes in the living room turned out to be a game changer. I highly recommend getting one.

I was able to download the codes for all the devices, no manual programming was necessary!

I find that I am actually enjoying watching stuff on the TV in the living room now. It seems like having to switch between remotes or remote apps on phone had affected my enjoyment subconsciously.

I had work to do after the optical audio port on my Yamaha soundbar broke and my universal remote stopped controlling my internet-deprived Roku TV.

1. I use my TCL Roku TV without internet
2. Optical audio on soundbar broke so needed replacement (we don't talk about HDMI ARC)
3. New soundbar works but universal remote stops working
4. See "without internet" for problem
5. Gets new universal remote
6. Controls TV (albeit none of the codes for TCL worked and I had to spend 20-30 minutes having the remote go through every possible code)
7. Gets remote to control soundbar power and mode
8. ...But not sound
