@Em0nM4stodon

To be fair, there is a #UniversalDeclarationOfHumanRights but the  spent the next several decades knocking off heads of state for no good reason. That and the foreign conflicts they stoked did a lot to undermine the credibility of the effort. Other countries only saw one country doing both through the U.S.-led U.N., rather than a country trying diplomacy and its own insurgents going abroad when they couldn't reign at home.

... but I'm told the post- #911 reforms fixed that.

THE PATTERN OF LANGUAGE (1/3)
The 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 8689 pixels

This work shows the 30 articles of the UDHR. Each letter and each punctuation mark is replaced by a colour; the spaces are kept in neutral silver-grey. Moreover, the silver-grey yarn forms the basic structure of the whole work.

The resulting work represents the fundamental rights of every human being, but also an abstract colour pattern: the pattern of the English language, which would be largely the same for any other source text, apart from the order of the colours.

The loose ends of wool on the back are a random by-product of the crochet technique used. However, due to their idiosyncratic colour and formal dynamics, they represent an equivalent counterpart to the organised front.

Human Rights Day - Wikipedia

Happy #humanrights day everyone. It's unfortunate that the state diminishes those rights every day. We have to work for those rights if we want to have them. #universaldeclarationofhumanrights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 represented a milestone in the recognition of the universal rights of every human being following the unprecedented horrors and mass expulsion of World War II. The Declaration declares that all rights and freedoms it sets out are universal, and without exclusion due to race or ethnicity, religion, gender identity, language, political or other opinion, nationality, social origin, property, birth, or any other status.

Today, 192 member states of the United Nations have committed themselves to this declaration. And yet, governments and international organisations have continually undermined and neglected the obligation to protect refugees.

Across the world, people are forced to leave their homes; fleeing conflict, persecution, climate change, or a lack of basic care. While seeking safety, refugees and migrants often end up in camps, detention centers or on the streets, while states, such as the EU member states, work hard to prevent people accessing the right to seek asylum.

We call on all states to uphold their commitment to the UDHR, and to respect and protect human rights for all!

Everyone has the right to a life free from persecution.

No one is illegal.

Violation of
Human Rights, in any country and at any scale, should be condemned by all irrespective of caste, creed, religion, financial and social status, and political orientation. There is no valid reason not to care about human rights. We must stand up and raise our voice when anyone’s human rights are denied or everyone's rights are undermined.

Whenever and wherever human rights are violated, I agree with the corresponding global and local protests while respecting the local laws.

Let us understand better from the
preamble of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,
Whereas it is essential to promote the development of friendly relations between nations,
Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,
Whereas Member States have pledged themselves to achieve, in co-operation with the United Nations, the promotion of universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms#HumanRights #HumanRight, #StandUp4HumanRights #UniversalDeclarationofHumanRights #HumanrightsforAll, #Humanity
