I see some people making fun of others for having just a GED or only a high school degree as some kind of "gotcha" to illustrate that the opposition is #uneducated. Many people never complete more than a bachelor's degree (or less) not necessarily simply because they don't want to learn or they are completely ignorant and refuse to learn (aside from the fact that anything more than a bachelor's degree progressively gets expensive as time goes by), but rather due to systemic issues with U.S. #education in general. I am also speaking from personal experience too, given the fact that I have had a negative educational experience as a whole.
I've seen teachers and professors straight up refuse to help me with anything even with a 504 or IEP, because they assume I should be able to get it right away and wish that I was able to advance faster instead of being "dependent on them" a.k.a. posing an inconvenience when I don't intend to. It doesn't help that the educational system is designed so that anyone criticizing it is seen as overstepping or "talking back" to authority. In no manner did I ever get any actual meaningful help or accommodation from the teachers in public education, regardless of my status.
(please don't suggest I would've been better off in private or Catholic school, or anything of that sense, it's not appropriate or relevant to what I'm trying to say)
