Should Montreal become a sanctuary city?
Some community organizations that work with newcomers want Montreal to be declared a sanctuary city. It’s a move that was attempted by a former Montreal mayor and advocates say it would allow undocumented migrants to obtain services without fear of deportation.

Texas has roughly 2.1 million undocumented immigrants.
Florida has about 1.2 million.
Minnesota has around 130,000.

Yet ICE is heavily active in a blue state like Minnesota—not the red states with far larger undocumented populations.
