January, to me, is the leftovers month of the year. The holiday chaos has settled, my fridge is full of odd food pairings (jar of clotted cream with fancy star-shaped pickles, anyone?), and I’ve rediscovered a small stockpile of canned goods I clearly meant to use… at some point.
And just like my pantry, my yarn shelves were holding onto things I set aside in 2024—mostly yarn bases I collected but never had time to dye. So, I decided to embrace that energy and throw it all into my dye pans!
This month, I’m not chasing a grand new collection or meticulously planning a seasonal colorway drop. Instead, I’ve taken a different approach—working with whatever bases I had on hand, dyeing freely, without overthinking, and seeing where the process led me.
The result? A fresh batch of completely unique yarn, dyed across a mix of bases—each with its own little quirks. I’ve got Sparkly Singles ready to shine, a delicious accumulation of Mighty Merino Fingering, and, of course, our all-time favorite: Squirm Sock. Every colorway was dyed with an open mind, a touch of spontaneity, and that January ‘let’s make something out of what’s already here’ attitude.
