So lessons learnt.
Design the route for the least fit person.
Don't trust Komoot for off-road touring routes. Margery Hill was possible for an MTB or unloaded gravel bike, but anything with panniers? No. 5 hours of pushing bike does not make for happy touring.
Plan bail-out points for food and accommodation more effectively.

A very long breakfast later (train options were either in one hour or three hours after we arrived) we pootled down to the station, bought tickets, then immediately found out the train was delayed due to overcrowding.
Fortunately we just about got the bikes on, because the next train after that was in another 3 hours.

Day 2.
The wheels have completely fallen off our plan. Neither of us had a good night's sleep (mine due to my airbed deflating and wrecking my back, Lee due to being broken by the hike-a-bike).
We decided to head back to Bamford for breakfast before getting the train home. I let Lee choose the route back. He managed to find one of the longer, hillier options. I loved it...

Day one of my lap of the peak District done.
It has not gone to plan. The section from the Woodhead Pass near Penistone over to Ladybower reservoir was essentially several hours of hike-a-bike. There was no hope of making our restaurant reservation in Baslow, even with taking a direct road route, so we detoured to Bamford for food and began the hunt for a campsite nearby. Found one near Hathersage, and arrived just before sunset.

Rare enough to be highlighted. I had a close pass earlier this week. Driver was fiddling with their phone at the time and I ended up filming them again later phone in hand.
I was expecting the Met to act on the report and Keep the phone at the wheel but it appears that they are going with a double offence #BikeTooter #UKCycleTweeps #UkShitDrivers

My new shirt carrier has arrived.
On the left is the new one (Thule) and on the right is the old one.

The old one relied on a zipper that failed miserably after 3.5 years (of which 1.5 was COVID). Cannot repair it

The old one relies on velcro and I am pretty confident can be repaired.
