Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Resolute Raccoon Beta is now released as of today for users who are curious to see the progress of this version of Ubuntu due to release on April 23rd. This is to ensure that high quality is met when the final version gets released to the public.

This version of Ubuntu features GNOME 50 that has made user experience more natural and intuitive, with many improvements to come, such as:

• Improved file manager app enables faster performance and more reliability, with faster thumbnail loading and reduced memory usage.
• Improved calendar app enables productivity improvements, with the major feature addition being the attendees list.
• Improved settings app receives several welcome improvements, including the “First day of the week” option for Date and Time.

In addition to that, GNOME 50 also features significantly improved remote desktop capabilities, thanks to a subset of changes made. The new hardware acceleration support, which uses Vulkan and VA-API, enables a major performance boost. Lag has been reduced to make remote sessions much smoother.
