#GUI #usability #ux #protip If your app requires user to choose from options but there is only one option, it should already have preselected that one existing option. Especially if a choice is needed to complete an action.

@claudius @oldperl @evacide the kernel seems to be behind, yes. At least this is what I see in termux. I am not sure which abstractions it uses, though.

I am generally not a big fan of android and iOS, I am also considering trying #Sailfish or something else #Linux based (preferable with gnome). I'd use another phone for android / banking stuff then. If anyone knows a good source for #UX details where I could get some real impression of how good it would work, that would be awesome.

When was the last time you experimented with materials to create a better interface?

We had a great tour at Portland Art Museum yesterday! Big thanks to Becky Emmert, Head of Accessibility at PAM, for hosting us. We got to experience the museum's amazing tactile art pieces, learn about the museum’s accessibility history and initiatives, and tour the galleries.

"I went to the New York Times to glimpse at four headlines and was greeted with 422 network requests and 49 megabytes of data. It took two minutes before the page settled. And then you wonder why every sane tech person has an adblocker installed on systems of all their loved ones. …

The current state of news UI assumes that the reader is an adversary to be trapped and monetized."

Można to jednak wyłączyć!

– komentuje Niki.

Użytkownik Mastodona, Steve Troughton-Smith podrzucił na swoim profilu poradę, na którą, myślę, czeka sporo niezadowolonych użytkowników macOS Tahoe.

Aby wyłączyć ikonografię w menu macOS Tahoe wystarczy:

  • Uruchomić aplikację Terminal.
  • Wkleić tam następujące polecenie:
  • defaults write -g NSMenuEnableActionImages -bool NO

    3. Po wklejeniu zatwierdzić klawiszem Enter.

    Efekt?

Aby przywrócić ikony należy powtórzyć powyższe kroki, używając innej komendy:

defaults write -g NSMenuEnableActionImages -bool YES

    #design #ikonografia #ikony #macOS26 #macOSTahoe #trick #UI #ux

The #Mastodon desktop web app works super as far as I've been able to tell. But the way the screen is organised doesn't appeal to me at all. I know this is a shallow perspective: but it's quite unattractive.

And it has some usability question marks too. Like the way the text area you're writing and editing in is positioned. #ux

I hope the new UX:ers at Mastodon have a look at this. I'm sure one could do lots of great stuff here.
