These are one of my favorite plants, pictured last summer, winter 2023, and today. This particular species is typha latifolia (the bulrush). The plant looks so peculiar. Some parts of it are edible as well, though I've never tasted it. They are called "osmankäämi" in Finnish, but they also have an old colloquial name: papinkulli.

The Finnish for "priest's c**k".

Moving on... If I spot bulrushes, I kinda feel compelled to take photos of their "cigars" every time. No no, not because of... Nevermind.

Retention Pond

On July 18, I decided to visit the retention pond near Van Horne Park around 8 AM to stretch my legs and enjoy some fresh air. Of course, I brough along my X-T3 and Fujinon XF150-600mmF5.6-8 R LM OIS W. I think it had rained earlier that morning because the leaves of the tall grass were still wet.

#BredtDunkjevle (#TyphaLatifolia) kalles som oftest bare dunkjevle, men det er to arter i Norge og da er best at de har hvert sitt navn. Den andre heter smal dunkjevle. Den brede er den vanligste og den som ganske nylig har kommet til Løten. Men det jeg tviler på at Løtensokningene vet er at dunkjevle kan spises.
