Mastodon is forum like vbulletin. It is specifically designed to tamp down on fake virality and negative reinforcement. Much of the things people are complaining about are because this is a network platform, not a media platform. You can use it like a media platform though, it is just harder.

Being a coder, on days like today, my thoughts are with Admins as they race to scale up to meet demand.

We all just expect everting to work, but in the background a monumental effort is underway to make sure our community stays stable and reasonably responsive. So shout out to all the Admins we salute you.
