I played #TwilightPrincess over winter break 2007-2008. It was the Wii version and I remember liking the game and getting all the heart pieces and stuff. I distinctly remember loving the overworld music.

I also played it a few weeks after my grandfather had died. TP's dark, oppressive, and lonely world struck a nerve. Games are really weird like that.

Anyway, I sold the Wii like 17 years ago so I was going to read the manga instead. But someone had checked out vol 1, so I checked out the Oracle of Seasons manga. I read a few pages and was like "I should play Oracle of Seasons again". That's close enough, right?

By the way, if anyone here ever wants to try out different Zelda games on emulators, go ahead and give anything a shot. I’d recommend Wind Waker HD. But Twilight Princess... ugh

That’s probably the only one I can’t recommend to anyone. It’s probably the only Zelda I can say, “Meh… it’s just okay.”

It’s such a clunky mess the world has never seen. I get that games have their conventions, but when a game from the modern era feels like a Nintendo 64 (or PS1) game, it’s really noticeable.

Goddamn, the controls are so clunky you’ll stop joking about your ex. Even to climb stairs, you have to stand at a SPECIFIC angle and sit through a very long animation. GOD FORBID you miss an enemy by 0.2 cm to the right of where you’re supposed to. I honestly don’t get where it gets so many fans.

Interestingly, Wind Waker came out before it, but it doesn’t have any of these issues, and it still feels pretty modern even now.
