There is particularly annoying about services that allows you to sign up, pay and use the service fully online.... only to require you to phone them if you want to cancel.

Todays culprit is the TV license people.

Did the quiz at https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one to see if I needed a TV licence - and I don’t. Genuinely do not.

Had to call a human to cancel and got quite the quiz and ‘BBC Upsell’ but it’s now cancelled.

£185/yr saved.

I can't decide if this is a good attempt at email phishing, or a complete idiot thought it was a good idea to enable click tracking in the mail with some shitty unknown provider.

(The license number and expiry date are accurate, but for all I know, the tv licensing people could have had a data breach).

What's this ? Oh, the periodic missive from TV Licensing for the UK.

No, nothing has changed, I still don't use any service in a manner that would require me to have a license.

Go to website... error page about the whole site being temporarily unavailable.

So now, rather than this being a 2 minute job I'm tasked with checking back once an hour, day, whatever, to ensure they don't decide to harass me further.

Part of me wonders if they've been a target of a cyberattack, or if it's just incompetence.
