I'm back from the reception. As with the trip to drop off the painting, I have a dozen or so ideas for new pieces.

My piece didn't win any of the prizes but it has the honor of being next to the best in show, an amazing piece called "Dad in his Perry Como Phase" which I first saw on social media when it was still a WIP. I had NO idea it was going to be part of the show. It's a massive and stunning piece that's also whimsical. It's 6x3 feet.

Husband and I are at Turtle Bay. We stop at Branch House for refreshments. I get a table and tell him to get me something. We’ve been a couple since 1991. He asks hot or cold and I say cold.

After a lovely time sitting and watching the racers come across the Sundial Bridge and making friends with a young beagle at the table across from me my husband returns. He’s carrying a chai latte for himself and a glass (actual glass!) of orange juice. Perfect think. I take a huge glug and realize it’s a mimosa.

Keep in mind we don’t typically drink. He can’t for health reasons. I don’t because being drunk is a sensory overload for me. But he knows I like mimosas. I do but this is stronger than I make them on those rare times that I do.

I am now drunk on 3/4 of a mimosa.
