Voter turnout is low in this California region, but people are tuning in for the Newsom v. Trump showdown

Most Central Valley voters don’t know the term “Proposition 50.” But they’ll weigh in on whether California should draw new maps to fight Texas’s gerrymander.

Earlier update from Sequoia NF on Facebook:

The Flume fire started just before 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 6, with a location reported to be on Highway 190, a quarter mile west of Wishon Road. Sequoia engine 321, one of the many resources deployed to the scene, was the first to arrive and assumed command of the incident. They immediately began working with Tulare County Fire Department to suppress the quickly spreading wildfire.

While the fire was estimated to be 10-20 acres in size with a moderate rate of spread, crews and engines on the ground began constructing handlines and laying hose lines up both flanks of the fire. The fire's rate of spread and advancement were also slowed significantly with the strategic use of aircraft, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of the fire response.

The fire was mapped at 73 acres after the forward rate of spread was stopped. Crews are working in rough, rugged terrain, facing numerous challenges, to complete the handline and secure and improve existing lines in place. The fire will continue to be staffed with resources in the coming days to ensure fire lines hold in their current footprint.
