In Japanese folklore, objects that have existed for a hundred years are said to gain a spirit of their own, transforming into beings known as tsukumogami. #tsukumogami #ghosts https://connectparanormal.link/post/800191488812285952/tsukumogami-objects-that-have-existed-for-100

This is by far the best camera I’ve ever owned. It’s slow to boot, the battery retention clip fell off after getting corroded by a leaky battery and a few days ago it developed a sudden auto-focus issue that magically sorted itself out after a few hours. Oh, and the viewfinder has got a bacterial colony of sorts. Despite all of this it’s seen heavy use for the past nine years and I still get amazed by its ergonomics and practicality. The X100 series are true gems. #fuji #x100 #x100t #tsukumogami

🎎DOLL DILEMMA👹

The question of what happens to unwanted dolls is a very serious one in Japan.

Household items, should they reach the age of 100, may acquire a soul or spirit, and as they are human in shape, dolls are particularly susceptible to becoming 'tsukumogami' (付喪神).

Day 10 of Stream Ink is Possessed, just like this little fellow here, the kasa-obake.
Kasa-obake (which translates to Umbrella Ghost) is a type of yōkai known as a tsukumogami - everyday objects which, usually through advanced age, become possessed of a spirit. Like most tsukumogami, this lil guy’s a pretty chill buddy.

#mythology #folklore #tsukumogami #demons In Japanese folklore there are many many spirits. Tsukumogami are inanimate objects that become sentient. The last one is supposed to be a seta (a straw sandal)

Rengidori - "擂木鳥" - [Yokai] - A Tsukumogami of an antiquated wooden pestle. Freed from its mortar, it sprouts wings and flies away!!! - its full story seems to be lost to time, but it seems to be based after an old saying: "擂木が鳥になる" - "The pestle becomes a Bird." it often appears in Edo period board & card games.
