Donald Trumps mislukte vredesinitiatief heeft nog eens bevestigd dat Rusland niet bereid is tot concessies en juist inzet op intensivering van de oorlog. Een Europese coalitie van bereidwillige landen blijft Oekraïne steunen, maar kijkt intussen afwachtend naar Washington.
Rusland stelt zich steeds agressiever op naar Europa, constateert de militaire veiligheidsdienst MIVD in zijn jaarverslag. Directeur Peter Reesink: ‘Ik heb nooit eerder gezien dat Rusland probeert in een digitaal besturingssysteem te komen van een Nederlandse publieksvoorziening.’
