"Last stop, Rose City! Join TriMet this April in bidding farewell to the original MAX train" by TriMet - #TriMet (3-county #Portland metro area #transit agency) will hold a public event to mark the last Type 1 MAX light rail cars. Type 1's have operated since MAX light rail opened in 1986. The event will be 3pm Sat Apr 18 at Holladay Park next to NE 11th Ave/Lloyd Center MAX station. A check of the map shows a MAX spur track on 11th next to the park. https://news.trimet.org/2026/03/last-stop-rose-city-join-trimet-this-april-in-bidding-farewell-to-the-original-max-train/ #Oregon #PNW
It's going to be interesting because I'm going to try to take #TriMet from Beaverton to the East side of the river and the protest is scheduled for tomorrow.
Just drove west on SE #Division and the eastbound side is a disaster.
#TriMet buses are scattered along the route with their hazards on, and each one is backing up traffic for blocks. Saw it happen 3 times just between 42nd and 7th. Anyone know what is going on?

Revised #TriMet August 2026 service change proposals have just been released

They will preserve the Line 97 Tualatin-Sherwood by combining it to the Line 38-Boones Ferry.

The Line 96 will go to Lake Grove and Barbur TC, incorporating parts of the Line 37.

Tualatin mayor upbeat about TriMet talks on transit cuts - Tualatin Life

Over more than a month of give-and-take discussions, the city of Tualatin and TriMet, the regional transit service, have collaborated to narrow the gap between TriMet’s service cuts and the concerns of city leaders and residents, according to the city’s mayor. The tone of the dialogue has mostly eased since late December, when Tualatin Mayor

portland MAX is obviously less efficient than skytrain..... but i always feel myself being drawn to it. no system i've ridden anywhere in the world has the vibes of MAX. street running through city centres with beautiful landscaping and public art, and rocketing through industrial and agricultural land like a big train. it feels like a modern reincarnation of the golden age of interurbans. i think that's just lovely.

MAX is also probably one of the best light rail systems for comfort and accessibility and ease of use. it's a very well designed and well operated system. i admire it a lot. trimet is also a nice agency and i think they do great work. what other agency would have a rider's fan club with free train parts giveaways and exclusive tours? what other agency would have a sticker on every vehicle reminding you of your civil rights? trimet is kinda based.

i do love skytrain and i wouldnt give up skytrain for anything in the world. but MAX is just so nice, its a close second on my favourites.

Grateful for @trimet.org's leadership, and for the community voices who have pushed the agency to prioritize bus service on 82nd Avenue. This is a victory for healthier, more affordable and more equitable neighborhoods in East Portland. https://loom.ly/M0czKOY https://news.trimet.org/2026/02/transit-priority-lane-decision-keeps-82nd-avenue-transit-project-moving-forward-but-funding-questions-remain/

"A new Oregon initiative petition just dropped. Petitioner Shakur Hussein (who is also suing TriMet for wrongful termination) wants to get something on the ballot in the Nov 2026 election that would require TriMet’s Board and CEO to be elected, rather than appointed by the governor." ‪@taylorgriggs.bsky.social‬
