Great White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum) is a relatively abundant species that typically prefers hardwood (mainly deciduous) forests. It is less common in my region due to forest composition being mixed with a large proportion of evergreen or softwood trees.

Trailing Wakerobin (Trillium decumbens). A rare species found only in GA, AL, TN. This species was growing in a garden, far from the south.

Trilliums fall into two type categories: pedicellate and sessile trilliums.

Sessile trilliums have upright flowers and no flower stalk. Pedicellate trilliums have a flower stalk with flowers either upright above the bracts or nodding below.
