One of the oldest items in the RCPSG Heritage museum collection is this amazing trephine set dating from c1740.

It was made by Edward Stanton of London and contains 4 trephines, forceps, raspatory, lenticular, elevator and a tiny brush.

Here we go: #Catalhöyük just got its first clear case of #trepanation - as indicated by a2.5 cm hole in a young man's skull excavated on the floor of a house in the #Neolithic settlement in #Turkey.
