Harkonnen2I am not a Star Trek turbo ultra fan or something. I think it is one of the smartest SF shows that I know, I like some of it. Some of it I find simply "meh" and so on. On occasion it tackled very sensitive and POLITICAL issues (racism, same sex love, transgender, human rights, war, morality, political persecution).
If so, why I am writing this post and link this video? Because it explicitly shows what really is AI used for - blurring the reality with fake slop-generated information spread throughout. That one of the most important part why AI needs to be stopped. Current situation is that people use it to generate ton of fake information, and fact-checking this information requires time and effort which all of us have limited amounts, and which is sensational and easy to hook on. Our current reality of fast, short, emotional information is a perfect envronment for people who want to stir thigs up, and AI is a perfect tool for them to quickly flood us with tons of such information until we don't trust ANYTHING, and NOONE.
That's the tragedy. It's not about people hating progressive values in new Treks (WHICH WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR FUCKS SAKE!), but about reality where poeple who have no problems lying to us got really powerful tool to feed us more lies that was ever possible.
