It’s been 3 weeks…
...since the checkup in the hospital... For three weeks now, I've been practicing my walking again. No more crutches. Unfortunately I can't say "no more pain" yet, as I'm still partially bruised in the right hip area, with some edema swelling here and there (including thicker ankles than usual, still, unfortunately). The hospital visit was a bit of a trigger for me, as the surgeon tried to make light of the things that had happened to me (because he didn't change the hip ball to fit the cup better... 🤔). More of that I shared here: “Just a little bit of bad luck”. I will share part of the fit journey in my monthly fitness blog post. But I'll include more stats then. Now, it's just me babbling about the last three weeks... 🚶 […]https://cynnisblog.wordpress.com/2025/09/10/its-been-3-weeks/
I Survived ‘The Long Walk’ Treadmill Challenge — What 5 Miles with the New Stephen King Classic Felt Like

Some follow-up observations on my treadmill desk, including speed recommendations, ramping up, weight loss, and changes in my life.
I never enjoyed driving, so I stopped, given that in my dotage the only place I go is medical appointments. So the younger of my sisters dropped me off at my pulmonologist, who usually runs slow. She expected it would take at least an hour, so she went off to do my and our father's grocery shopping.
Miraculously, I was finished at the doctor's within twenty minutes. My sister mentioned that she usually didn't get phone reception in that supermarket, and indeed she didn't. So I decided to #walk to my other sister's as a change of pace.
I walk at least an hour every day on my treadmill, usually 60–70 minutes at 1.2–1.5 miles per hour. Google maps says it was just under 1.5 miles to the older of my sister's place. So I chatted with Sis One for a bit until Sis Two showed up. And today the front of my calves ache in ways that #walking on the #treadmill never make them.
