We didn’t spend the ENTIRE last two days at the hotel, just most of it. We like night markets and we saw there was one close by so the first night we were there we went for dinner. We wandered around and sampled a bunch of different foods. Then I ate mac n cheese.

We only stayed on Mamutik Island for two nights. We had read that it was much more popular for people coming from Kota Kinabalu for the day and were worried it wouldn’t be that great. It turned out being more popular with day trippers was true but we didn’t have any problem staying over

After we went to Sandakan we went back to Kota Kinabalu and took a quick boat ride to Mamutik Island, which is just a little ways off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. We went for the beach and while it couldn’t live up to our best beach trips (like the Perhentian Islands) it was the most convenient way to sneak a little beach time in to the end of the trip
