Sound Transit inaugurates revenue service on Federal Way Link, bringing light rail to three new stations in South King County

The 1 Line now runs north-south across almost the entirety of King County, just over three decades after voters said yes to creating a high capacity transit system serving Central Puget Sound. Eager crowds turned out for the occasion.

One of the joys of our recent trip to Northumberland was travelling light with just the Fujifilm X100VI.

I’ll admit, leaving the “proper” kit at home is always makes me a bit itchy, but this little camera continues to surprise and delight me. Compact, tactile and film-like, it encourages a slower pace, perfect for both capturing big coastal landscapes and the quieter family moments in between.

Federal Way Link will open to the public on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, Sound Transit announces

The extension will add eight miles of track and three new stations to Puget Sound's high capacity transit spine. Sound Transit estimates that perhaps 18,000 to 23,000 passengers per day will get on the train at these new stations.
